What is Misugaru?

 Misugaru is a traditional Korean grain powder that can be traced back to the 14^th century during the Joseon Dynasty in Korea.  Known to be filling, yet low in calories, misugaru has always been a favored nutritious supplement in Korea.  It is consumed as a healthy energy boosting snack and also used as meal replacement.  Common ingredients found in misugaru are barley, brown rice, black rice, alda beans, black beans, corn, white bean, millet, and sesame seeds. Misugaru makers will take different combinations and ratios of these ingredients, toast them, and then mill them to achieve their own unique flavor of misugaru.  Misugaru powder is commonly mixed with water or preferably milk with honey to sweeten.  The flavor is rich and nutty, similar to a nut milk.  

What is Misu(Seumisugaru/스미숫가루)?

Seumi is our creator and founder so it would only be fitting that our misugaru would be called Misu(Seumisugaru).  Seumisugaru is our brand of misugaru powder which consists simply of black sesame seeds, black beans and oat and nothing else. 

The founding of this particular type of misugaru comes from Seumi's mother. Seumi's mother was concerned for Seumi's health after the birth of her second child. So, she came up with this specific, unique, nutrient dense formula altered from traditional Korean misugaru to help with her recovery and to improve her health. Seumi has been drinking this misugaru every morning ever since.
